Who We Are

Victoria Kelly
Conference Organizer
Victoria is this year’s General Coordinator. She holds a BSc in Biology with an additional major in Irish Studies and an MA in History. She is currently a PhD student, and her research investigates the role of the Irish diaspora in Canada's contentious eugenics movement. She has held numerous research positions at Concordia University since 2020, contributing to several book projects and research papers in the areas of Irish history, migration studies, sustainability, and climate change.

Katherine Diamond
Conference Organizer
Katherine Diamond is a master’s student in History at Concordia University, Tiohtià:ke/Montréal. Under the supervision of Dr. Jane McGaughey, Katherine’s thesis project will interrogate Major General Richard Montgomery’s legacy in the public memory of the American Revolutionary War. Her intention as she grows her academic and professional careers is to foster a love for history in the general public, primarily through the development of educational programs in museums and other heritage sites.


Julian Rioux
Conference Organizer
Julian holds a BA (Hons) from the University of Saskatchewan and is currently a master's student in history at Concordia University in Montreal. His thesis project will explore the relationship between deindustrialization and settler-colonialism in Northern Canada, with a specific focus on the opportunities and obstacles produced through mine closure for the Indigenous and settler communities in and around Uranium City, Saskatchewan. He is a recipient of a Deindustrialization and the Politics of Our Time (DePOT) MA Fellowship award at Concordia University.
Philippine d'Halleine
Conference Organizer
Philippine d’Halleine is a master’s student in History at Concordia University, Tiohtià:ke/Montréal. Her thesis will focus on the resurgence of domestic violence in the North of France during the deindustrialization period. Supervised by Dr. Steven High, Philippine hopes to develop her historian career with her activist affiliations to work with public policymakers and push for women’s rights and security.


Lauren Lopez
Conference Organizer
Lauren Lopez (she/her) is a first year MA History student from Windsor, Ontario. As an Italian-Canadian herself, Lauren is interested in researching Italian folklore music and performance in Montreal’s Italian community for her thesis. In her free time, Lauren loves visiting museums, attending film screenings, and perusing through bookshops.
Dennis Tibil Bersong
Conference Organizer
Dennis Tibil Bersong is a doctoral student in History at Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec. His research explores themes in environmental, social, medical, and gender history. He has worked with several corporations to support accused witches in his community.
